PERENCANAAN KONFIGURASI INTERFACE METRO ETHERNET DOT1Q MENJADI QINQ DI PLAZA INDONESIA

Abstract


Metro Ethernet is a service of high capacity data network solution based on Ethernet that provides flexibility, simplicity and guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) for business customers and Other Licenced Operators (OLO) and using fiber optic as medium of transmission, so it has the high level of reliability and security. Metro Ethernet provides an effective solution for a wide range of communication, data, internet and other applications needs. Metro Ethernet interface configuration planning in this final assignment aims to maximize the performance of the device according to business considerations to provide customer needs. This configuration planning is simulated by changing interface encapsulation mode from Dot1Q method to QinQ method using terminal emulation, that can extends the address space of the VLANs from 4,096 IDs becomes 16.7 million available IDs, and solving the scalability issue. The result of this planning is QinQ method is better than Dot1Q method because it has bigger MTU, bigger spaces VLAN, less delay and jitter.
